Greetings! I am Dr. Mari Larangeira. I strive to create a safe and affirming space for individuals and couples to explore, heal, and flourish. Holding a PhD in psychology and a specialization in human sexuality, my academic background provides me with a solid foundation for blending cutting-edge research with practical, client-centered treatment.

At the heart of my practice is the belief that each person’s sexual journey is unique, and influenced by a diverse range of factors including culture, gender, race, and past experiences. My approach to working with individuals and couples is intersectional, and acknowledging of the interconnected nature of each person’s identities and experiences. Individuals arrive to relationships with different past experiences, social locations, beliefs and expectations from a relationship. This can be one of the things that disrupts the flow of connection in relationships and my specialization is helping couples navigate their differing experiences and perspectives to cultivate understanding, consideration and a mutually fulfilling bond.

I seek to empower clients to explore their desires and communicate their needs without judgment or bias. I am experienced and welcome working with consensual non-monogamy, polyamory, kink and LGBTQI issues.

Whether you’;re looking to address concerns related to desire, communication, performance, or any other aspect of your intimacy journey, I am here to guide you with empathy and expertise.

Outside of my clinical practice, I am an avid advocate for intersectional sexual education and awareness. I frequently engage in community workshops, public speaking events, and contribute to academic discussions on sexology. My dedication to destigmatizing conversations around sex and fostering a culture of open dialogue drives me to continually expand my knowledge and expertise.

Dr. Larangeira empowers clients to openly discuss their concerns, desires, and challenges related to sexuality and relationships. Dr. Larangeira’s therapeutic approaches are based in attachment-theory and its application to intimate relationships. Her specialization is in intersectional approaches to sexuality and intimacy. An intersectional approach acknowledges the way social constructs, such as race, class, and gender, can shape and affect our conscious and unconscious beliefs about sexuality, pleasure, and intimacy. This can deeply impact relationships, especially when the partners have differing identities or social locations, and thus have had different experiences and socialization around sexuality and intimacy. Through empathetic guidance and skillful interventions, Dr. Larangeira supports individuals and couples in cultivating connection, deepening intimacy, and fostering a healthy and satisfying sexual and intimate life.
