About Dr. Lanae St. John

Dr. Lanae St. John is a board-certified sexologist, certified sex coach, and former professor of Human Sexuality at City College of San Francisco. She is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Sexology. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Dr. Lanae specializes in helping individuals and couples normalize and enrich their conversations around sexuality, boundaries, respect, tolerance, and consent. Her work is rooted in the belief that a healthy sex life is integral to overall well-being.

Education & Professional Background

Dr. Lanae holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a Certificate in Women's Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She went on to earn a Master’s in Human Sexuality (MHS) and a Doctorate in Human Sexuality (DHS) from the Institute for the Advanced Study of Human Sexuality. Her extensive education is complemented by her role on the Advisory Board for the World Association of Sex Coaches (WASC) and as faculty for Sex Coach U.

She is an active member of leading professional organizations, including the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality (SSSS), the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT), and the International Society for the Study of Women's Sexual Health (ISSWSH). Dr. Lanae has further enriched her practice by studying with renowned experts such as Drs. Betty Dodson, Betty Martin, and Carol Queen. She is also trained in Somatic Sex Therapy, Cuddle Party Facilitation, and professional cuddle practices.

As an Intimacy & Relationship Coach, Dr. Lanae works with private clients through one-on-one sessions and small group settings. She is particularly skilled in helping women explore their sexuality and discover what truly turns them on.
